Introduction

Hatching Point (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Caffeine Rhythm mobile application.

Information We Collect

• Profile Information: Name, age, weight, biological sex, and metabolism preferences you provide during setup
• Caffeine Data: Drink logs, timestamps, and caffeine amounts you record
• Health Data: With your permission, caffeine intake written to Apple Health and sleep data read from Apple Health
• Purchase Information: Subscription status (processed by Apple, we don't see payment details)
• AI Feature Inputs: Caffeine context, drink details, photos, and optional notes you choose to submit for AI-powered insights or drink identification
• Support Information: Feedback messages, an optional reply email, and device, operating-system, and locale context used to investigate your request

How We Use Your Information

• Calculate personalized caffeine metabolism and half-life
• Provide real-time caffeine level tracking
• Generate sleep safety recommendations
• Process your subscription
• Respond to support requests

Third-Party Services

• Apple: App Store handles purchases and subscriptions. Data is stored locally on your device using Apple frameworks.
• Apple HealthKit: With your explicit permission, we write caffeine intake data to and read sleep analysis data from Apple Health. This data is never sent to our servers.
• OpenAI: Processes the limited AI feature inputs you explicitly submit to generate caffeine insights or identify a drink from a photo.
• PostHog: Processes anonymous product analytics and bounded subscription outcomes. It does not receive payment details or StoreKit transaction identifiers.
• Convex: Stores support and feedback submissions so we can review and respond to them.

Anonymous Product Analytics

If you choose Share usage, Caffeine Rhythm uses PostHog to understand onboarding, feature use, and product reliability. We send limited Product Interaction and Other Usage Data for analytics. The data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Analytics events may include app launches, onboarding progress, feature stages, paywall presentation, bounded purchase outcomes, app version, and build number. They do not include your profile values, caffeine amounts, drink names or notes, HealthKit data, photos, AI prompts or results, advertising identifiers, transaction identifiers, precise location, or other user content. PostHog processes these limited events on our behalf to provide aggregate product analytics. Learn more at posthog.com/privacy.

Sharing is optional and is off until you choose it. Continue without sharing lets you use the app without optional usage collection. You can withdraw or change your choice in Privacy choices in Settings or on the paywall without purchasing. Withdrawal stops future optional usage collection. It does not change your separate Apple tracking, HealthKit, or AI permissions.

Advertising Measurement

Advertising services, including Meta and TikTok when configured, may process permitted identifiers and app or purchase events to measure advertising. Cross-app tracking requires Apple's separate tracking authorization. Share usage does not grant that permission. HealthKit records, drink logs, profile values, photos, and AI content are not sent as advertising events. Apple's privacy-preserving attribution mechanisms may also report campaign performance without cross-app tracking permission.

Third-Party AI Service — Data Sharing Disclosure

Caffeine Rhythm uses OpenAI's API (“OpenAI”, located at openai.com) as a third-party artificial intelligence service provider to power AI insights within the app. This section explains exactly what data is shared, how it is used, and your rights.

• What data is sent to OpenAI: When you use AI-powered insights or photo identification, caffeine consumption context, drink details, an image you select, and an optional identification note may be transmitted to OpenAI's servers. No personal data (name, email, Apple ID, location, or payment information) is sent.
• Purpose: Data is sent solely to generate personalized caffeine insights. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
• OpenAI's data handling: OpenAI does not use data submitted via its API to train or improve its models. API data may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days for trust and safety purposes, after which it is deleted. See openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies.
• Your consent: Before any data is sent to OpenAI, the app displays a clear disclosure screen. You must agree before AI features become active.
• Your control: AI features are entirely optional. If you choose not to consent, the app continues to function without AI capabilities.
• Security: All data transmitted to OpenAI is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption.

Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: Your data is stored locally on your device and Apple Watch.
• No General Cloud Sync by Us: Your profile, drink history, and HealthKit records are not copied to our servers. The AI, support, and anonymous analytics exceptions described above are transmitted only for those stated purposes.
• Watch Sync: Data syncs between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple's Watch Connectivity framework.
• Encryption: All data transmitted uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).

Your Rights

• Access: View all data stored in the app
• Delete: Remove all your data at any time via Settings
• Cancel: Cancel subscription through App Store
• HealthKit: Revoke Health access at any time via iOS Settings

Children's Privacy

Caffeine Rhythm is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
