Introduction
Hatching Point ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Debate Bro mobile application.
Information We Collect
- Community Account: Your Apple account identifier and, when Apple supplies them, name and email for authentication. Apple name and email are not shown publicly.
- Public Profile and Competition: Your chosen username, optional bio, Elo rating, record, leaderboard position, debate arguments, resolutions, votes, match history, and rating ledger.
- Safety and Reliability: Reports, blocks, enforcement records, notification tokens and preferences, and limited interaction/diagnostic metadata. We do not include argument text in operational telemetry by default.
- Voice: Optional live-room audio is transmitted to room members. Debate Bro does not record or retain live voice audio.
- AI and Purchase Data: Prompts and debate responses used by AI practice features, plus subscription status processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card details.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve app functionality
- Process your subscription
- Respond to support requests
- Analyze usage to improve features
- Operate matchmaking, spectator voting, Elo, notifications, fraud prevention, moderation, and account controls
Third-Party Services
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, speech recognition, and Apple Push Notification service.
- Convex: Cloud database and application backend for community profiles, sessions, debates, votes, ratings, moderation, and notification delivery data.
- LiveKit: Ephemeral transport for optional live room audio. Recording is disabled.
- OpenAI: Processes content users intentionally submit to AI practice and judging features under its API data terms.
Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: AI-practice history, drafts, preferences, and a Keychain-protected community session are stored on your device.
- Cloud Storage: Community data is stored in Convex so matches can synchronize across users and devices.
- Encryption: All data transmitted uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
- Retention: Queue/rate-limit data is retained up to 7 days, challenges and spectator presence up to 30 days, and operational telemetry up to 90 days. Debate transcripts, votes, reports, rating ledgers, and enforcement records may be retained for up to 2 years for safety, dispute, and competitive-integrity purposes, subject to legal requirements.
Your Rights
- Access and Export: View and export your community profile, matches, arguments, votes, reports submitted, blocks, and rating ledger from Community Profile.
- Delete: Delete your community account in the app. We immediately remove authentication identifiers, sessions, notification devices, challenges, and blocks. Completed opponent history and safety/rating audit records may remain under an anonymous “Deleted Debater” identity so other users' records and enforcement evidence are not corrupted.
- Cancel: Cancel subscription through App Store
Community Visibility and Moderation
Your selected community username, rating, record, arguments, and match results can be visible to other community members. Reports are reviewed under our Community Guidelines. Authorized moderators can review the reported argument, room transcript, prior enforcement history, and related account activity, and may remove content, restrict matchmaking or voting, invalidate a match, suspend, or ban an account. We may preserve information when reasonably necessary to address abuse, legal requests, security, or disputes.
Children's Privacy
Debate Bro is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
