Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using DoorDot — including using the DoorDot visitor web page to ring a doorbell — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app or its associated services.
Description of Service
DoorDot is a privacy-first NFC doorbell app for iPhone. You place a passive NFC sticker or QR code at your door. When visitors tap or scan it, you receive a push notification. No cameras, microphones, or surveillance of any kind.
Requirements
- An iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later
- An active iCloud account
- An internet connection for sending and receiving doorbell notifications
Subscriptions and Payments
Free Tier
- 1 Dot (doorbell)
- Note-only events (no photo attachments)
- 7-day event history
Premium Subscription
- $2.99 USD per month or $19.99 USD per year
- Up to 10 Dots
- Photo attachments from visitors
- Full event history
- Token rotation for security
Payment Terms
- All payments are processed through Apple's App Store
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- Prices are subject to change with notice
- Refunds are handled according to Apple's refund policy
Free Trial
- New users receive a 3-day free trial of premium features
- No payment is required during the trial period
- When the trial expires, your account reverts to the free tier until you subscribe
Cancellation
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store account settings
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- No refunds for partial subscription periods
- Access to premium features ends when subscription expires
User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the app only for its intended purpose as a doorbell notification system.
- Not use the service to harass, spam, or send unwanted notifications to others.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the service.
- Not share doorbell tokens or links in a way designed to enable abuse or spam.
- Comply with all applicable laws when placing NFC tags or QR codes on property.
Visitor Conduct
Visitors who ring a DoorDot doorbell agree to use the service respectfully. Notes and photos submitted by visitors must not contain illegal, abusive, or offensive content. We reserve the right to enforce these standards through CloudKit moderation.
Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
DOORDOT IS NOT A SECURITY SYSTEM. IT IS A CONVENIENCE NOTIFICATION TOOL. DO NOT RELY ON DOORDOT FOR SAFETY, SECURITY, OR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Missed notifications or delayed delivery
- Loss of data or service interruption
- Security incidents at your property
- Any consequences arising from reliance on the app
YOUR SOLE REMEDY FOR DISSATISFACTION WITH THE APP IS TO STOP USING IT.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DoorDot, its creators, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the app
- Your violation of these terms
- Content submitted by visitors to your Dots
- Your violation of any third-party rights
Data Deletion
You may delete your data at any time:
- Delete individual Dots and their notification subscriptions from the Settings screen
- Clear locally cached data from the Settings screen
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data from your device
- To request complete deletion of all CloudKit records associated with your account, contact us at support@hatchingpoint.com
Intellectual Property
DoorDot and all associated trademarks, logos, and content are the property of Hatching Point. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the app without permission.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the service at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases immediately. CloudKit data associated with your account remains subject to Apple's data retention policies.
Jurisdiction and Disputes
These terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the app developer resides, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved through binding arbitration, and you waive any right to jury trial or class action lawsuits.
