1. Introduction
StealthNote ("we," "our," or "us") operates the StealthNote mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
StealthNote is designed with privacy as a core principle. All data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers without your explicit action.
2. Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device:
- Voice Recordings: Audio recordings captured through the app are stored locally and encrypted on your device
- Transcriptions: Text converted from voice recordings remains on your device
- Location Data: GPS coordinates and addresses attached to notes are stored locally
- Case Information: Case names, numbers, client names, and associated notes
- Evidence Tags: QuickMark tags and categories you create or assign
- Profile Information: Name and license number (optional) stored during onboarding
We do NOT collect or transmit:
- Your notes, recordings, or case data to any server
- Location history beyond what you explicitly save
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
- Browsing history or data from other apps
- Any personally identifiable information to third parties
3. How We Use Your Information
- Convert voice recordings to text (processed on-device)
- Attach geolocation to notes for evidence documentation
- Organize notes by case and evidence tags
- Generate timestamps for accurate timelines
- Process subscription payments (via Apple)
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade personal information.
We do NOT use your data to train AI models.
4. Data Storage & Security
- Local-Only Storage: All notes, recordings, and case data are stored exclusively on your device
- No Cloud Sync: Data is never uploaded to cloud servers without your explicit export action
- Encryption: Data is encrypted using iOS Data Protection when your device is locked
- Stealth Mode: Triple-tap instantly hides all content for operational security
- iCloud Backup: May sync if user enables iCloud backup on their device; you control this setting
5. Third-Party Services
- Apple Speech Recognition: Voice-to-text processing uses Apple's on-device speech recognition when available. On older devices, audio may be processed by Apple's servers per Apple's privacy policy.
- Apple Location Services: GPS coordinates and reverse geocoding use Apple's location services
- Apple App Store: Payment processing via App Store for subscriptions
We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process.
6. Location Data
StealthNote requests location permission to automatically tag notes with coordinates for evidence documentation. Location data:
- Is only captured when you create a note
- Is stored locally on your device only
- Is never transmitted to our servers
- Can be disabled in iOS Settings at any time
7. Microphone Access
StealthNote requests microphone permission for voice-to-text recording. Audio data:
- Is processed for transcription only
- Is stored locally and encrypted on your device
- Is never uploaded to our servers
- Can be deleted by deleting the associated note
8. Data Retention
- Local Data: Retained until you delete it
- App Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
- Export: You can export your data before deletion
- No Server Data: We retain no copies of your notes or recordings
9. Your Privacy Rights
General Rights: Access, Deletion, Export, Correction — all manageable directly within the app
CCPA (California): We don't sell data; right to know and delete
GDPR (EU/EEA): Rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your information.
10. Children's Privacy
StealthNote is intended for professional use by licensed investigators and is not designed for users under 18 years of age. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us at support@hatchingpoint.com.
11. Changes to Policy
Updates will be posted in-app and on this website with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
