A little help, right here.

Let’s get you

up and monitoring.

From the first connection to your next reading. Find the steps for your monitor, and know what to check if something needs attention.

Before you begin

AirMD+ needs real hardware to measure temperatures. The app alone cannot sense supply or return air.

• A compatible ESP32-WROOM monitor running the correct AirMD+ firmware. Supported DIY hardware includes the Freenove ESP32-WROOM board; other ESP32 variants are not automatically compatible.
• Two supported DS18B20 temperature probes, correctly wired with the required pull-up resistors, and suitable USB power.
• A 2.4 GHz personal Wi-Fi network with internet access. Enterprise, captive-portal, and legacy-security networks are not supported.
• An iPhone with AirMD+, signed in to your account. Allow Bluetooth and Local Network access when requested.

Building your own? Contact support for the current firmware installation path. An application-only update file is not a complete fresh-board installer. Do not erase an already configured board just to retry setup.

Assembled hardware checkout is currently paused. No hardware orders are being accepted through this site.

Add a monitor

Version 1.4 rollout: These nearby-pairing instructions require the updated app and compatible firmware. Version 1.4 is a preview until it becomes available on the App Store. Older app versions use the private QR/manual setup flow instead.

1. Start in the app. Power the monitor, keep it near your iPhone, sign in with internet access, then open Settings → Device Management → Add Monitor.
2. Select the nearby board. The app discovers compatible monitors over Bluetooth. A new supported DIY board creates its own identity; you do not need to invent or type a monitor ID or setup code.
3. Confirm physical access when prompted. Hold the board’s BOOT button for about 2 seconds, then release it before 5 seconds. Do this after selecting the board. Holding it for 5 seconds or more clears its saved Wi-Fi instead.
4. Approve the setup network. Accept the iPhone prompt to join the board-specific, password-protected AirMD network. The app supplies that setup-network password automatically.
5. Choose your home Wi-Fi. Select a compatible 2.4 GHz network and enter its password in the app.
6. Wait for confirmation. Keep the app open while the monitor connects and confirms the exact setup attempt. Allow your iPhone to reconnect to the internet when prompted. A Wi-Fi checkmark or “cloud accepted” message alone does not mean setup has finished.

QR/manual recovery: If your provisioned monitor includes a private label, use the recovery option in the app. Keep that label and all setup codes private. A short BOOT gesture opens a limited setup window; follow the instructions shown for your app version.

Connection help

The board does not appear

• Check USB power and that the board has compatible AirMD+ firmware.
• Check iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth and enable AirMD+ access. Keep the app in the foreground and the monitor nearby.
• A monitor already on Wi-Fi may need the re-add or Wi-Fi-reset flow below. Do not remove a working monitor as the first troubleshooting step.

The iPhone joins AirMD Wi-Fi, but setup stalls

• Return to AirMD+ and allow Local Network access. If you previously denied it, enable it in iPhone Settings for AirMD+.
• Let the current attempt finish or display its error before retrying. Avoid repeatedly switching Wi-Fi networks during an active attempt.
• Use the app’s retry/recovery action. If it asks you to restart the monitor, power-cycle it and begin a fresh nearby attempt.

No Wi-Fi networks, or the home connection fails

• Confirm the router offers a compatible 2.4 GHz personal network, and check the password carefully.
• Keep the monitor within reliable range of the router, not just the iPhone. Metal HVAC cabinets can weaken Wi-Fi.
• If setup still fails, note the exact stage and error. Send support the app and firmware versions, but never your Wi-Fi password, setup code, or private QR label.

Readings & probes

Supply is air leaving the HVAC system. Return is air going back into it. Delta-T (ΔT) compares their temperatures. Change between °F and °C in app settings.

Equipment type, weather, humidity, load, and probe placement affect the split. A reading, range indicator, or AI summary is informational and does not diagnose an HVAC problem.

Connected, but no temperatures?

• A cloud connection and valid sensor readings are separate things. Check the monitor’s sensor status and the time of the last actual sample.
• Disconnect power before checking probe wiring, pin assignments, or pull-up resistors. Use the probe manufacturer’s pinout rather than wire colors alone.
• Make sure both probes are detected. Missing or invalid probe readings should not be treated as a zero temperature.
• After reconnecting power, allow the monitor to reconnect and take fresh samples. If readings remain missing or delayed, contact support with the status shown.

Safe placement

Use safely accessible supply and return air locations. Keep the monitor, exposed electronics, and wiring away from moisture, hot surfaces, fans, and electrical hazards. Do not open energized equipment, drill into unknown areas, or interfere with HVAC safety controls. Ask a licensed HVAC professional when in doubt.

Remove a monitor — then add it again

1. Open Settings → Device Management, select the monitor, and choose Remove Device. Confirm removal and wait for the app’s result.
2. Removal unlinks the monitor from your account. Past readings are kept. It does not remotely erase the board’s saved home Wi-Fi.
3. Before setting it up again or handing it to someone else, keep it powered, hold BOOT for at least 5 seconds, then release. This clears its saved Wi-Fi and restarts it.
4. Run Add Monitor again. On the updated nearby flow, select the board first, then do the short 2-second BOOT confirmation when prompted.

If removal says an app update is required, update first. Do not try to work around an unfinished release by resetting identities or asking someone to manually delete database rows.

Device removal, account deletion, and subscription cancellation are separate actions.

Change the monitor’s Wi-Fi

With the board powered, hold BOOT for at least 5 seconds and release. This clears saved Wi-Fi and restarts the monitor; it does not by itself remove the account registration. Then follow the app’s setup instructions for the new network.

The long BOOT gesture is classified on release. It is different from the short physical confirmation used during nearby pairing. Keep setup codes private and never send Wi-Fi credentials to support.

Premium & your account

The free app includes live monitor readings and device setup. Optional Premium adds history ranges up to 7 days, user-requested AI summaries, equipment-label scanning, and optional filter, check-in, and inactivity reminders.

Apple shows current pricing, eligibility, and renewal terms before purchase. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account’s subscription settings. Use Restore Purchases in AirMD+ if needed.

Account deletion is available in AirMD+ Settings. Deleting your account or removing a monitor does not cancel an Apple subscription. See the privacy policy for data handling and retention.
