Duskpad
Duskpad is a brutally efficient 3-minute nightly offload for people who don’t actually want to “journal,” they just want their brain to shut up. It’s built around an uncomfortable reality: most nighttime anxiety isn’t deep mystery—it’s unfinished social risk, looming consequences, and avoidance. The app doesn’t soothe first; it extracts. You do a timed “worry purge” with sharp prompts that force specificity (who/what/when/what you’re afraid will happen), then it converts the mess into a next-day Action List with a default bias toward the smallest irreversible step (send the text, book the appointment, open the doc, check the balance).
The taboo version people secretly want: permission to admit the ugliest thought without being judged, and a system that treats worries like liabilities—captured, categorized, assigned an owner (often you), and scheduled. It also recognizes that some worries are ‘performative’ (your brain generating doom to feel in control) and calls them out with a “This is a rumination loop” label. The app is not a therapist. It’s a nightly mental repo: dump, triage, decide. Then sleep.
Exploration path fit (Sleep Worry Winddown Night Mind Dump): the product evolves from gentle winddown to a more honest ‘cognitive inbox’ that prioritizes extraction and containment over comfort. Winddown is the wrapper; the mind dump is the engine.
FEATURES: • 3-minute guided Worry Dump (hard timer rapid prompts: ‘What are you afraid will happen?’ ‘What’s the evidence?’ ‘What’s the smallest next step?’) • Auto-triage categorization (work/relationships/money/health/self-image custom tags) with ‘Rumination Loop’ detection (repeated entries without new info) • Next-Day Action List (AM digest) that converts worries into 1–3 micro-actions, with an explicit ‘Do / Defer / Delete / Discuss’ decision • Confession Mode (optional): write the thought you don’t want to say out loud; stored with extra lock deliberately non-therapeutic labeling (e.g., ‘Jealousy’, ‘Guilt’, ‘Avoidance’) • Sleep Gate: after the dump, the app locks editing for the night (to prevent endless rewriting) and offers a 60–120s grounding drill (breath, body scan, or ‘name 5 things’) • Worry Ledger insights: ‘Top recurring themes’, ‘Most expensive loops’ (time spent), ‘Avoidance streaks’, and a weekly ‘What you keep not doing’ report
